As an American digital nomad and solopreneur where do you pay your taxes and how do you handle these taxes while living and working from other countries?

Answered by Johnny FD, entrepreneur & podcaster

As Americans, we have to pay taxes in the USA no matter where we live in the world.

That being said, unlike Europeans or Australians who can set up an e-residency in Estonia as an example, we have to pay in the USA. But there are a ton of tax breaks and benefits as Americans if we stay out of the country for 11 months of the year.

Also, by moving from California to Texas a few years ago I now take advantage of 0% state income tax compared to 8%.

For Americans, watch this video from the Nomad Summit as tax accountant Grace Taylor breaks it all down perfectly.

For Non-Americans listen to episode 216 of the Travel Like a Boss Podcast about the E-Residency.
