It's hard to fight depression and loneliness when we're so far from our friends and family. When I first started traveling it was much harder as mobile data was expensive, and Whatsapp didn't exist.
Now I Facetime friends and family all of the time, and use the internet to find local friends, meetups, and local interests. It's become much easier, but it's still up to you to go out and actually meet them.
The problem is when people stay home and expect to magically meet others and have a social life. It's up to us to make friendships and relationships a priority.
