How do you manage your time between work and trips as a digital nomad?

Answered by Jacob Laukaitis, marketer

At the beginning of my travels, I'd usually focus on working from Monday to Thursday and traveling from Friday to Sunday. However, once my travels became more adventurous, I adopted a new strategy...

I automated all of my businesses so that I hardly need to do anything to maintain them - there are either other people working on them, or the businesses are successfully running on their own (for example if all of a website's traffic comes from search engines and it's monetized with online advertising).

So I usually spend 2-4 months traveling very actively - going on motorbike adventures; hiking mountains; doing road-trips; etc., during which time I occasionally do some work, but mainly make sure everything's running smoothly - hop on calls, answer e-mails, etc.

After those months of traveling I generally feel a little exhausted, so I rent an AirBnB apartment in a place I enjoy (like I did in Taipei and Bangkok) and spend 4-6 weeks working (on new projects or videos), reading books, doing sports, hanging out with my local friends and resting as much as I can.

Then I usually get really bored, pack my stuff and hop on the plane for a new adventure!
