I have already shared my tips for creating YouTube videos that rock. Here are my tips for marketing YouTube videos:
Reach out to journalists. When you make a video that you think might interest some journalists or bloggers, reach out to them. When I did my first NK video, I had a VA Google journalists who have covered other YouTube videos about NK and later reach out to them. In this way we got quite a bit of external traffic from them and eventually got featured by YouTube's algorithm (which is basically the ultimate goal for any of your videos);
Submit on social platforms. I've had a little bit of success on platforms like BoredPanda, 9Gag, Reddit and others for my most famous videos, but there are literally hundreds of platforms you can submit your content to, so spend some time doing that and see how it goes;
Think about SEO. People search for a lot of things. If you make a video on a topic that a lot of people search for “best night markets in Bangkokâ€, “how expensive is Malaysia?“, “top 10 best things to do in Baliâ€, etc., make sure you have the video optimized for those search queries. Have a proper title and add the necessary tags. Your video might not go viral overnight, but you'll get thousands of views every month, which add up.
